Friday, October 20 is our second Domestic Violence conference on Purple Shirt Day, sponsored by Creative Communication Network, to benefit Hope's Door and the New Beginning Center in Garland. Register. Donations are welcome. This year's conference is entitled, "Are We Winning the War on Domestic Violence?" The conference runs from 9;00 a.m. until noon in the NextGen Theatre at Springcreek Church at 2660 Belt Line Road in Garland.

The speakers present from a variety of perspectives, representing different disciplines to address these questions: (1) what progress have we made and what have we accomplished, (2) what work is currently in progress, (3) what setbacks have we encountered, and (4) where should we direct efforts for the future? For the second consecutive year, Karl Krayer is the Host and Moderator of the event. The confirmed speakers are Christina Coultas (Texas Association Against Sexual Assault), Tracy Grinstead-Everly (Texas Council on Family Violence), John Sharp (Batttering Intervention and Prevention Program), Wendy Sheriff (City of Garland Police Department), and Ryan Thomas (Hope's Door / New Beginning Center).
